University home > IT Services
This service is intended to allow users to distribute large files to others (both within and outside the University) without transmitting the files by email. Outgoing mail (from the University) may be subject to maximum message size limits, and recipients may also be subject to restrictive quotas.
The user uploads the file via a web form, and is then sent an email containing a URL from which the intended recipients can download a copy of the file. The intention is that instead of sending the file itself, the originator can simply mail a URL.
The files uploaded to this server are kept for up to fourteen days before being automatically removed. Please bear in mind that this system is not intended for use as a long-term file repository.
By using this service, you warrant that you have a right to distribute the files to their intended recipients. Using this service to distribute material without permission from the copyright holder is in breach of the University's disciplinary rules and the law.
Please read the information about the data security issues involved with the use of this service before using it.
Use of this system may be monitored, in accordance with the University's Policy for the Investigation of Computers.
The fluff service will be unavailable for upload and download between 08:00 and 09:30 on Wednesday 6th June 2012 due to system maintenance.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
It is now possible to allow non-members of the University to upload files for the attention of University members. We're calling this "fluff for guests."
